A federal judge’s decision to block most parts of Arizona’s new law addressing illegal immigration is a disappointment, U.S. Rep. Phil Roe said Thursday.
“The reason I’m disappointed is I don’t think the federal government is doing their job,” Roe, R-Tenn., said in a conference call with reporters. “The job of the federal government, per the Constitution, is to protect this nation.”
Earlier this week, U.S. District Court Judge Susan Bolton in Phoenix issued a temporary injunction against sections of the law requiring police to determine the status of people they lawfully stopped and suspected were in the country illegally.
